Know The Savior

I grew up in Houston, Texas within a neighborhood that was full of drugs, prostitution, and crime! I was the youngest of 4 kids and the only boy. In High School I started to go in the wrong direction. I got involved in pornography, drinking, and became sexually active. This carried over into college. The deeper I got into sin the more alone I felt. On the outside it looked like I was happy but deep down I was miserable.

In 1996, at the age of 21, I was encouraged to attend a Christian conference called Impact. The conference was amazing! I had never seen anything like it—all the young people, the music. On the bus ride home from the conference I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and change me! And He did.

"My favorite scripture reads this way:

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13,14

This is exactly what the Lord did in my life! I was caught in the power of darkness and the Savior freed me from that life and forgave me of all of my sins! Now, for as long as I live I WILL serve Him!

In order to give your life to God and get in right standing with Him there are a few things you need to know:

A. Mankind Has a Sin Problem!

Question: What is sin?

It means to miss the mark. No person in the whole world is perfect therefore every person who was ever born is a sinner.

Question: How did we inherit this sin problem?

Adam!

Genesis 2:16-17

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

As a result, sin spread throughout all mankind and this why every human being will die one day.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 5:12

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.

B. Jesus Paid The Penalty For All Mankind!

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 2:2

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

       •   Propitiation is the means of forgiveness or atoning sacrifice.

       •   Jesus died as a substitution for us!

       •   Mankind would be eternally separated from God and would be sentenced to hell if not for the sacrificial death of Christ!

2 Corinthians 5:21

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

       •   Jesus takes on our sin no matter how ugly it is and he gives us his righteousness.

       •   When the Father looks at us He sees the righteousness of His perfect Son!

C. Receive Him As a Gift For Yourself.

John 1:12

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

       •   Jesus is the only way to get to the Father!

       •   There is no other way!

Question: How do I receive Jesus Christ as a gift? Through prayer!

Look at your life right now and tell God in your own words that you want to turn away from your old way of life and receive Jesus as the only way of getting in right standing with the Father.

My friend, if you have done that your life will never be the same! The Bible says that you have passed from death to life!

John 5:24

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
